Formed on the island of Malta, Brighton-based / Anglo-Maltese outfit ĠENN is: Janelle Borg – guitars (she/her), Sofia Rosa Cooper – drums (she/they), Leona Farrugia – Vocals (she/they), and Leanne Zammit – bass (she/her).
ĠENN is a self-described sisterhood founded on instinctive trust and an experimental collision of multinational backgrounds, with Maltese, British, Jamaican, and Portuguese roots represented across its four members.
Their bold geographic move was mirrored by their 2023 debut unum - an album celebrated as a bold journey through experimental rock, post-punk, and Mediterranean folk. Notable press / radio acclaim arrived from BBC6, KEXP, Pitchfork, The Independent, Loud & Quiet, CLASH, Under the Radar, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, with a collaborative video for single The Sister Of also achieved a UK Music Video Award nomination.
low key orchestra. Mehr Understatement in einem Bandnamen geht nicht. Der wirklich unpassendste – und damit passendste – Name wurde da von Sönke Torpus für etwas gefunden, das, ohne übertreiben zu wollen, musikalisch wirklich Großartiges birgt.
Aber erstmal kurz von vorne. low key orchestra ist das neue Bandprojekt des eben genannten. Allen Indie-Folk-Connaisseuren unter uns wird seine ehemalige Band Torpus & the Art Directors ein Begriff bzw. in guter Erinnerung sein und die Freude ins Gesicht geschrieben stehen, dass nun neue Musik vor der Tür der Lieblingslieder steht.
„maybe words“ hieß der erste von mehreren low key orchestra Songs, die dieses Jahr veröffentlicht werden und es ist schlichtweg ein wundervolles Lied. Sönke ist eine kleine Hymne für all jene gelungen, die eine ausgestreckte Hand oder ein offenes Ohr benötigen. Als hätte er sich gedacht: „Wenn ich nicht in deiner Nähe sein kann, dann bekommst du immerhin einen Refrain, der mehr Trost spendet als 1000 Umarmungen.”

Aus jeder Zeile spricht aufrichtiges Mitgefühl. Zusammen mit dem Produzenten Helgi Helgasson hat Sönke es geschafft, einen unausweichbaren Text in warme und facettenreiche Musik zu übersetzen. Soundtechnisch schwebt das low key orchestra – vor allem hierzulande - sehr eigenständig in einer Klang- und Gefühlswelt, die von Bands wie Bright Eyes, Whitney und den Flaming Lips geprägt wurde. Im Songwriting hingegen fnden sich Parallelen zu frühen Alben von Coldplay oder Keane. Sönke sagt über sich selbst, er habe die Musik für eine lange Zeit verloren. Zu unserem Glück hat er sie – oder vielleicht auch sie ihn – wiederentdeckt. Im Oktober geht das low key orchestra zum ersten Mal in voller Bandbesetzung auf Tour.

Alte Männer zeigen erneut in prätentiöser Selbstdarstellung, dasz es nicht viele Emotionen braucht, um erfolgreich die Welt zu Grunde zu richten:Wut, Hasz, Narziszmus und...ähh...Hunger. Genau!„Warum werde ich nicht satt?“sangen schon Die Toten Hosen. Warum? Weil die Gier nach Macht,Ruhm und Anerkennung wie ein Bandwurm im Verdauungstrakt des Wirtes parasitiert.Mit diesem bahnbrechenden Mindset aus Stahl wird SOKO LiNX mit dem neuen Drummer ONLi KOXS und mit dem neuen Album PUNK FÜR LEUTE, DIE PUNK HASZEN im Herbst 2026 endlich wieder auf Tour gehen. Die Miszion lautet: nicht gut, aber ohrenbetäubend. Die Vision heiszt: nicht tight, aber schnell. Denn es kommt nicht darauf an, wie mans macht, sondern dasz mans macht. Somit gilt dieses Mal die Devise nach Kubicki: Sei Macher statt Sozialarbeiter! Nichts zu danken, denn SOKO LiNX hat noch jeden wach geküszt, da ist sie nämlich Altruistin. Also faxt es euren Eltern und simst es der angeheirateten Verwandtschaft: Die Teletubbies des Elektro-Punk mit Alditüte und gelegentlichen Rap-Ausflügen sind bald wieder back on stage.
Rika Bender macht New Wave mit Charakter. Dunkle Gitarren, coole Synths und eine unverkennbare, tiefe Stimme prägen ihren Sound. Die Musik ist direkt und intensiv.Zwischen Post-Punk-Energie und klaren Melodien entsteht etwas Eigenes – kein Retro, kein Revival, sondern ein Sound, der aus der Vergangenheit gelernt hat und im Jetzt ankommt.Ihre Songs tragen Kanten, Gefühl und ein klares Gespür für Timing. New Wave, wie er 2025 klingen kann – roh, emotional, entschlossen.
MEDUΣA kombiniert in ihrem Sound Synthpop mit starkem 80er-Vibe und mischt dabei Einflüsse aus Post-Punk, Rock, Darkwave und NDW. Treibende Beats, markante Synthesizer und elektrische Gitarrensounds schaffen eine atmosphärische Klangwelt, die gleichzeitig nostalgisch und zeitgemäß wirkt. Inhaltlich dreht sich ihre Musik meist um Themen wie Liebe und Herzschmerz – doch anstatt in Melancholie zu versinken, verleiht sie ihren Tracks eine gewisse Leichtigkeit, die zum Tanzen einlädt.

BARRENS is a new trio from Gothenburg, Sweden, featuring 2 members of SCRAPS OF TAPE, a band that has been releasing albums on Denovali Records and touring for over 20 years, and whose last album “The Will To Burn” is an incredibly underrated masterpiece.
There is obviously lots of common ground between what the two bands do musically, yet BARRENS develop their own idiosyncratic sound on their stunning debut album Penumbra: driven by synths equally as by guitars, Penumbra is oscillating between the dark and the brighter side of post rock, but leaning more towards the dark. The album is conceptually circling around topics like change, metamorphosis and transformation, „especially movement into, through and out of shadows and back again“, guitarist Johan G Winther explains. „Being both lost in darkness, yet finding comfort there. Seeking it. Afloat in blinding light, suspended in darkness”, as it is etched into the vinyl.

The Rock Band Thank From Leeds first emerged in 2016 from the scene surrounding CHUNK, their city’s notorious – and now sadly defunct – DIY space. The band spent six years honing their brand of volatile and joyously cathartic post-punk alongside a hivemind of grindcore and powerviolence bands, UK garage and bashment DJs, and most things in between, before releasing their debut full length album ‘Thoughtless Cruelty’ in 2022.
Having weathered various lineup changes, since early 2023 Thank has settled on a core quartet of Lewis Millward (guitar/synth), Cameron Moitt (bass), Steve Myles (drums) and Freddy Vinehill-Cliffe (vocals/guitar). This incarnation of the band released ‘I Have A Physical Body That Can Be Harmed’ in late 2024, an acid-fried concoction of hardcore punk fury, jungle-inspired freneticism and synth pop bombast, and their first release via Big Scary Monsters.
2025 was a big year for Thank, starting with a UK co-headline tour alongside Kal Marks and ending with a run of shows opening for Mclusky and Young Knives across the UK and Germany, not to mention their busiest festival season yet, including explosive sets at 2000 Trees, Truck Festival, Manchester Punk Festival, ArcTanGent and more. Having spent the first half of 2026 laying low and working on album three, in May the band played a series of anniversary gigs, commemorating 10 years as a band. In October they will embark on their seventh tour of mainland Europe, playing in Denmark and the Netherlands for the first time ever.

Melanie Baker makes music about everything that hurts and everything that feels just right. Based in Newcastle (UK), she writes with unflinching honesty — songs that sway between noisy catharsis and quiet confession, between absurd humour and deep vulnerability. With pounding drums, fuzzy guitars, and tender lyrical precision, Baker reclaims the grit and spirit of ’90s alt-rock through a queer, modern lens.
Her world is a blend of chaos and compassion, where anxiety, anger, love and laughter coexist in equal measure. She builds her songs like comic-book panels of emotional truth: hearts pumping out of chests, steam whistling from collars, cartoon melancholy meeting genuine tenderness. Her music invites the listener to cry, laugh, and scream along — sometimes all at once.
Much of this universe — on stage, on the road, and at home — is seen through the lens of photographer and partner Ellen Dixon, who documents their life together in intimate, analog snapshots. The result is an ongoing portrait of a queer artist coming of age in the north of England: a scrapbook of van rides, small venues, backstage nerves, and private joy.
Live, Baker’s performances blur the line between theatre and therapy. Alongside drummer Adam Robson and multi-instrumentalist Jon Evans, she cracks jokes mid-breakdown, turns self-deprecation into community, and transforms unease into something radiant. What begins as personal confession often erupts into a roomful of strangers yelling the same truth at once.
Her work has been championed across BBC Radio 1, 2, and 6 Music, and her song “Double Decker Death Machine” featured on BBC TV’s Waterloo Road. But acclaim has never been the point. Baker’s art thrives in the messy, glorious space between pain and play — finding humour in heartbreak and hope in absurdity.

Pyro One ist eine Nervensäge. Direkt, oft sperrig und emotional. Er beobachtet exzellent und gibt den kleinen Nuancen des Zwischenmenschlichen einen Raum. Gleichzeitig wechselt er häufig auf die emotionale Ebene und gibt der Tristesse eine Stimme. Politisch, komplex und weit weg von eingängig, schert er sich nicht um die musikalische Verwertbarkeit seiner Songs. Im Zweifel bleibt er dagegen. Es ist kompliziert. Pyro One hat seinen roten Faden. Anstelle von Parolen und kurzweiliger Effekthascherei treffen kritische Lyrics auf Beats, die irgendwo angesiedelt sind zwischen klassischem Boom Bap und Cloud-Rap.

Seit 2001 steht die Rapperin Ket auf der Bühne, anfangs nur in Leipzig, spätestens seit dem Release ihres Albums „Traverser la rue“ im Jahr 2012 ist sie in ganz Deutschland unterwegs. Ihre Musik beschreibt sie selbst als persönlich, Therapie für sie und alle, denen es ähnlich geht, mit durchkonstruierten Reimen und einem Schuss Boom Bap. 2022 erschien ihr neues Album „Katharsis“ über Vinyl Digital.
