FLORRY is a Philly-based country rock outfit led by Francie Medosch and featuring a cast of the most daring and tasteful players of the underground. Francie’s songwriting is pointed, personal and current, yet arranged with a keen ear toward the canon of late 20th century outlaw country and rock n’roll. For fans of Kurt Vile, MJ Lenderman and Wednesday!

CARL FUNGUS is the artistic alias of Berlin-based musician Jannis Necker. A product of the Bavarian countryside, he cut his musical teeth as part of Berlin’s garage scene, acting as part for garage-punk trio Ryl, known for their energetic live shows. Carl Fungus can be described as the laid-back counterpart to this rowdier work, layering dreamy keys and sunny guitars over solid bass and drum work. The band’s defining feature is a voice that is wistful and earnest, full of uncommon character and inflection, the sound of a professional stargazer looking to music for answers the heavens can’t give.

The debut EP SCHMUNGUS is full of bright, jangly guitars, dreamy synths, soft, expressive vocals reminiscent of Stuart Murdoch, as well as lyrics that chart tender new beginnings and conjure wistful summers. Carl Fungus describes himself as “part psych rock kid, indie pop millennial, and americana grandpa.” This complimentary blend of influences and perspectives is evidenced in the tight, catchy make-up of songs like A Rose, the dreamy, progressive nature of cuts like Naked Dinner, and the melancholy, contemplativeness of slower numbers like Silence is Easy or closer Granite Sun.

Egyptian Blue (indie/uk)

Every element of Egyptian Blue’s angular and uncompromising sound brings with it an urgency that is both rare and vital. Their duo of critically acclaimed EP’s to date, both released via Yala! Records, have made the Brighton-based band a compelling proposition. Between their jolting, groove-orientated post-punk attack and their polemic lyrical approach, the quartet made moves in all of the right places. The tracks ‘Collateral’ and ‘Nylon Wire’ were playlisted at BBC 6Music, while further support came from Jack Saunders, Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy and artistic peers including Joe Talbot (IDLES) and Yannis Philippakis (Foals).

Lifelong friends Andy Buss and Leith Ambrose formed the band in their hometown of Colchester (UK) with bassist Luke Phelps. Initially practicing above a jewellery shop, they were the epitome of a band reacting to the mundanity of their surroundings. Early jams often devolved into marathon sessions of fourteen hours or more, made all the more chaotic by the amount of whisky they’d share as well as the growing attention of the local police. Relocating to Brighton, a turning point came at a King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard gig. Seeing a band that well-drilled made them rethink the work ethic that their own project required. The addition of drummer Isaac Ide completed the jigsaw, offering a more intense direction for the band, together with a fresh rush of creativity.

Gorilla Mask (High-Energy Thrash-Jazz, Berlin) feat, Sofia Salvo + Eliad Wagner
Tickets
doors 19:00 - show 20:00

GORILLA MASK:
Peter Van Huffel - Alto & Baritone saxophone, electronics
Roland Fidezius - Electric Bass, effects
Rudi Fischerlehner - Drums

plus special guests:
Sofia Salvo - Baritone saxophone
Eliad Wagner - Electronics

Ground-shaking grooves, hammering rhythms and wailing melodies, layered with explosive no-holds-barred improvisations: GORILLA MASK is a type of sonic madness roaring with a restless, implacable energy that totters dangerously on the verge of total chaos. They craft spirals of sound in 4 or 5 dimensions, jabbing you in the ribs as they mess with your brain – the ebb and flow of an actuely aware trio of musicians who know what they want and know how to get it. Canadian ex-pat Peter Van Huffel is a saxophonist out of Coltrane, Ayler and Zorn, but he frames his improvisational forays in the context of a trio with hard rock dynamics, riding the churn of Roland Fidezius' frenetic bass and Rudi Fischerlehner's pulsating drum kit like a surfer on the biggest wave he's ever seen.

GORILLA MASK is the product of a constantly active, hyper-intelligent hive-mind of three virtuosos; their music a mishmash of punk, rock and metal influences rooted in jazz, free-improvisation and the modern avant-garde. A collision of styles which form the key to the band's identity. This is bold, audacious 21st Century music writ huge, with innumerable influences and tendencies, gritty and urban, intellectual and ready to run a marathon.

Sofía Salvo is a baritone sax player and improviser from Buenos Aires, Argentina, currently active and living in Berlin, Germany. Her performances combine acoustic noisy sounds and dark introspective melodies. Her way to approach her instrument guarantees the listener a vibrant experience.

Eliad Wagner  is a composer, performer, sound artist and lecturer, a classically trained musician, holding academic degrees in physics and music composition, with strong interests in technology, autonomous processes, intention/attention in audio culture and the vocabulary of electronic music. Based in Berlin since 2012, he is an active member of the city's experimental music scene as a composer-performer of electronic/electro-acoustic music, active in a wide range of scenes - from Jazz to noise to acousmatic music and sound art.

Noise-/hard-/alternative rock band MAGGOT HEART takes their acclaimed third album "HUNGER" on the road for a few selected European shows & festivals in May. Frontwoman Linnea Olsson was recently described as "one of the most distinctive voices in heavy music" by Bandcamp Daily (who compared "HUNGER" to Patti Smith, Motörhead and The Birthday Party alike). Presenting their unique take on rock music through poetry, rawness, dissonance and skilled songwriting - the trio creates an intimate type of aggression not to be missed.

Enjoy the dance!

Borgzinner (Skacore, NRW)

Stinking Lizaveta (doom-jazz/us)

Yanni Papadopoulos (guitar) and his brother Alexi (upright electric bass) grew up to the liberating, teeth gnashing, do-it-yourself sounds of the DC scene in the 1980s. Cheshire Agusta (drums) was raised in West Virginia on hard mountain music, classical piano, and Stravinski. The confluence of their stories is Stinking Lizaveta.

Born in 1994 in the basements of West Philadelphia and tempered by seventeen years of American and European tours, sharing stages with bands such as Clutch, Corrosion of Conformity, Rollins Band, Fugazi, Zeni Geva, Today Is The Day, Weedeater, Hidden Hand, Don Vito, Antikaroshi, End of Level Boss, and Beehoover, Stinking Liz has built a reputation as one of progressive metal’s most unique and devastating live acts and stands as one of America’s most durable and powerful rock bands. Stinking Lizaveta is the instrumental trio specializing in what one reviewer calls, “insane improvisations, relentless rhythms, and volumes of groove.”

Stinking Liz do restore your faith in rock and roll.

ASTREL K blends sonically adventurous sources (film music, post-rock, indie electronica) with intimate vocals and melodies to craft a sound that's both comforting and challenging at once. The solo project of Rhys Edwards enjoyed the patronage of Stereolab, whose revived Duophonic Super 45s label issued the project's debut album, Flickering i, in 2022.

The Foreign Department is the second album by Astrel K, Those already familiar with Edwards’ work will likely know him for fronting the cultishly great Ulrika Spacek, and given he operates as the principal songwriter in both projects, much of the same hallmarks of his cathartic, elliptical songwriting are present in Astrel K. Nonetheless, The Foreign Department feels like a rubicon moment of sorts, and the album that Edwards has unconsciously been working towards his entire creative life.

Berlin-based ALIEN GRACE finds firm footing in the unfamiliar, always agile and one the move, whether with explosive riffs or soaring vocals. Comprising members originating from all of Scandinavia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Malta and Bolivia, the six-piece band looks to the West for their meat and to the East for their spice – specifically, soulful rock peppered with Balkan folk. Hailing from Bulgaria, Lithuania, Bolivia, Malta, and all of Scandinavia, ALIEN GRACE is where all contrasts meet, unlikely friends are made, and unexpected sounds are blended together.

Alien Grace flourishes equally on the stage and in the studio, where the relative newcomers have worked with acclaimed producers Pete Smith (Sting, Joe Cocker) and Mario Breuer (Spinetta, Charly Garcia).
