For 5 years, there is a cultural exchange between the curators and promoters from Plzen (Czech Republic) and the Reverberation Festival, resulting in an annual newcomer contest where young artists from Czech Republic are chosen to represent their countries aspiring, contemporary music scene by participating at Reverberation Festival. While the festival is taking a break in 2023/24 and potentially moving to Berlin in 2025, we will present a special night with Mermaid Man from Berlin and this year's Riversound Festival winner called "China Soup"!

MERMAID MAN (bln)
...is the artist identity of Robin Heller that was developed during the pandemic in times of global uncertainty. After being part of Sir Robin & The Longbowmen for several years, the project revolved around the idea of reinvention and self-discovery and was the artistic response to this introspection - a creative escape that blends the old with the new.

The name Mermaid Man is an interaction of the otherworldliness, mystery and fluidity of the wide oceans and the grit and depth of Berlin’s underground music scene.

The fusion of multiple genres like Psychedelic Garage, Wave and Soul showcased on the debut release “Let’s Dance To The End Of The World” is a deliberate choice to break free from traditional boundaries and mirrors the complexity of modern life — chaotic yet harmonious, familiar yet foreign.

Mermaid Man’s sound is eclectic with a heavy emphasis on blending retro influences with modern styles. The music features groovy bass lines, crisp guitars and vintage synthesizers, upbeat and moody atmospheres, creating a multi-layered sonic experience.

The pandemic and its fallout functioned as a creative crucible, reflecting times of uncertainty and tension in each of the album’s songs, mixing nihilism and celebration.

Mermaid Man functions as a vessel, exploring themes of escapism, using music as a way to navigate the harsh realities of life, both lyrically and visually while also paying attention and raising awareness to the reality of changes in both nature and society, standing up for cultural and musical diversity by featuring several talented Berlin based musicians from all around the world for all live performances.

CHINA SOUP (cz)
...is a Psychedelic Synth Rock outfit from Pilsen that has gathered great reputation among Psych lovers in recent years in Czech Republic and beyond. The quartett is blending a variety of genres, including garage rock, psychedelic rock, and krautrock. Their sound is characterized by sharp, loud guitars combined with gentler synth melodies, offering a diverse musical experience. China Soup is not afraid to experiment, drawing comparisons to bands like Oh Sees and CAN.

"Flup·pe /Flúppe/ Substan/v, feminin [die]

steht umgangssprachlich für Zigarette. Sie ist mithin ein fast niedlich klingendes Wort für eine nicht ganz ungefährliche Sache. Hier und dort wird auch ein misslauniger Gesichtsausdruck als Fluppe bezeichnet. Beide Beschreibungen passen auf die Band ziemlich gut.

fluppe sind der Stengel, der in deinem Vorgarten nichts verloren hat, der Vogelschiss auf deinem Volkswagen. fluppe sind ein Post-Punk-Quartett aus der Hansestadt Hamburg, das ebenfalls ein Faible für Pop und Shoegaze hat. Der ehemalige Intro Chef Daniel Koch (u.a. Musikexpress, Diffus) schreibt: „(...) musikalisch kommen einem eher diese räudig-poetschen Post-Punk-Bands wie shame, Protomartyr oder auch IDLES in den Sinn.“ Kombiniert man dies mit der für die Hamburger Schule typischen Haltung und Skepsis gegenüber den bestehenden Verhältnissen, so hat man in etwa die Koordinaten zusammen. Mehr braucht man nicht.

Sham 69 mit Tim V am Gesang haben ein brandneues Doppelalbum namens TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH herausgebracht. Die Songs des Albums spiegeln die Veränderungen nicht nur in der Gesellschaft, sondern auch in der Szene im Allgemeinen wider. Ein Spiegelbild unseres Lebens im Alter und all derer, die wir im Laufe der Jahre geliebt und verloren haben. Dieses Album ist auch eine Hommage an Neil Harris, Mitbegründer von SHAM 69, und von Tony Feedback, die beide nicht mehr unter uns sind. Bereits 1975 gründete sich die Band in England. Sham 69 schrieb grandiose Hits wie „Hey little rich boy“, „Hersham Boys“ oder eben „If the kids are united“. Gassenhauer, die jedem Punk und Skin von damals bis heute. Es gab viele Line up Wechsel innerhalb der Band, der bedeutendste davon ist sicherlich, dass Jimmy Pursey 2007 durch Tim V ersetzt wurde, der die Band wiederbelebte und mehrere Welttourneen bestritten hat. Somit ist diese Version die Sham 69 Band mit Tim V, nicht Jimmy Pursey. Sie sind wieder unterwegs, wie jedes Jahr, mit Leidenschaft und dem RocknRoll im Blut. Vorsicht, hier werden Ärsche getreten.

Café Chocolat, is a new music series and community building event created by Melissa Perales (M:Soundtrack, Durchlüften, Music Pool Berlin) and Batila (the Dream bus, BantuSoul Allstars). We aim at celebrating and supporting local talents and newcomer black and brown artists & DJ’s within the diaspora of Germany’s communities. Our main thesis is that when communities are supported and treated fairly they will thrive. This includes everyone from the artists on stage, to the door person or the sound engineer - We believe with more emphasis on “all of us”, we can create a more equitable event and make a contribution to our music scene. Please come out and support our efforts so we can continue this event!

Concept of the evening: The Dream Bus takes you on a musical journey performing their music (The members are from all over the world and their sound reflects this) AND jumping on an off the Bus are guests who will perform 2-3 songs each to give us a taste of their work, showcasing the amazing artists, poets, dancers and or multi-instrumentalists of the community! and we will always provide continued good music after the live show with a DJ who will bring it all together. When possible food will be available for sale outside the venue and special drinks on the menu at the bar.

Welcome to our table - the "Cafe CHOCOLAT STORE" will be available from this evening on with artists merchandise, perhaps clothing and craftwork or food. Our evening supports our community and we hope you feel welcome and join us in lifting everyone up!

LSD – Liebe Statt Drogen ist eine der bekanntesten Lesebühnen Berlins. Jeden Dienstagabend gestalten die 5 Mitglieder von LSD und eingeladene Gäste im Berliner Schokoladen ein Programm aus neuen Texten und Songs. Gegründet 1996 besteht LSD heute aus den Mitgliedern Andreas „Spider“ Krenzke, Tobias „Tube“ Herre, Uli Hannemann, Eva Mirasol und Ivo Lotion. Alle 5 genannten Künstler sind als Autoren und Musiker auch in anderen Bereichen aktiv.

LSD bietet jeden 1. & 3. Dienstag ein Offenes Mikro für Menschen an, die spontan etwas vortragen wollen. Beachtet bitte, dass der Beitrag selbstverfasst sein muss und nicht länger als 6 Minuten dauert. Wer am Offenen Mikro liest, braucht keinen Eintritt zahlen und bekommt ein Freigetränk.
