Café Chocolat returns with another heart-filled edition of our community-rooted series, featuring Batila & The Dream Bus — a Berlin-based collective of outstanding international musicians led by Batila, whose Bantu Soul sound fuses ancestral rhythm, groove, and spirit.

We’re thrilled to welcome Ssemaganda, a Ugandan multi-disciplinary artist, folk musician, dancer, photographer and storyteller whose work bridges the past and present. His music blends traditional instruments like the Adungu, Akogo, and flute with soulful vocals and gentle electronic tones — weaving stories of love, belonging, and unity. @ssemald_256 

And for the dance floor — DJ PAYARES! 🔥 Formerly known as El Profe, this Salsa Brava resident DJ brings his Afro-Colombian roots to Café Chocolat with an irresistible mix of salsa, soukous, and Congolese rumba — perfect for a night of rhythm, warmth, and connection. 

🍲 As always, we’ll be serving food before and during the show — come early, eat, and meet friends before the music begins!

Café Chocolat is more than a concert — it’s a gathering. We celebrate and support local talent and newcomer Black and Brown artists & DJs within Germany’s diaspora communities. Because when communities are supported and treated fairly, they thrive. 🌱

HUMAN TOYS is a garage punk duo. Poupée Mecanik (vocals, theremin) plays with female archetypes, coupling subversion with irony. Guitarist Jon Von, x-Rip Offs, has transformed the band with new songs somewhere between the Ramones and the Avengers!

The LPs on Topsy-Turvy records and 45 on Outro Records cover subjects from B-movies, drugs and perversion to politics, sexism and gender freedom.

Sham 69 mit Tim V am Gesang haben ein brandneues Doppelalbum namens TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH herausgebracht. Die Songs des Albums spiegeln die Veränderungen nicht nur in der Gesellschaft, sondern auch in der Szene im Allgemeinen wider. Ein Spiegelbild unseres Lebens im Alter und all derer, die wir im Laufe der Jahre geliebt und verloren haben. Dieses Album ist auch eine Hommage an Neil Harris, Mitbegründer von SHAM 69, und von Tony Feedback, die beide nicht mehr unter uns sind. Bereits 1975 gründete sich die Band in England. Sham 69 schrieb grandiose Hits wie „Hey little rich boy“, „Hersham Boys“ oder eben „If the kids are united“. Gassenhauer, die jedem Punk und Skin von damals bis heute. Es gab viele Line up Wechsel innerhalb der Band, der bedeutendste davon ist sicherlich, dass Jimmy Pursey 2007 durch Tim V ersetzt wurde, der die Band wiederbelebte und mehrere Welttourneen bestritten hat. Somit ist diese Version die Sham 69 Band mit Tim V, nicht Jimmy Pursey. Sie sind wieder unterwegs, wie jedes Jahr, mit Leidenschaft und dem RocknRoll im Blut. Vorsicht, hier werden Ärsche getreten.

As winter settles in, these two artists are here to bring healing heat, ancestral pulse, and cosmic joy straight into Schokoladen.

First up, K’BOKO — Brazilian-born, Berlin-based DJ, producer, percussionist, music therapist, and social worker. His sound — “high ancient future vibes” — bridges Afro-diasporic rhythms with 808s, sub-bass, and shimmering synths. And joining him is Cosmic Race, arriving from the sun-baked edges of Rio de Janeiro by way of a distant galaxy. For a second time, after his debut in Loophole in May 2022, VAN ELST comes with new material. His dreamy atmospheres and ethereal sound will sooth you through melodies and layers of sound. Van Elst, drummer of the disbanded band ,Desert Mountain Tribe, made a huge impact on the world psych scene with 2 amazing LP releases and a world tour supporting Peter Murphy ( Bauhaus ) in 2023.

Dreampop and shoegaze from Berlin and Hamburg: The duo GARLANDS enchants with two voices, delicate guitar work, and tasteful synthesizer sounds. Even the band's name—a reference to the Cocteau Twins' first album—evokes the ethereal atmospheres of the 90s, somewhere between sophisticated pop and new wave, without sacrificing the necessary edge, a kind of noise that evokes a sound reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine. At the same time, the two multi-instrumentalists create expansive soundscapes ranging from delicate pop harmonies and tasteful loops to raw distortion effects, while echoes of ambient, krautrock, and psychedelic rock drift by. Lyrically, the musicians embark on a journey into a vast cosmos.

Garland stand for the deconstruction of restrictive concepts and refuse to let pop narratives be dictated solely by twenty-somethings or old men. They sing of highs and lows, transitional zones, peaks and abysses from the perspective of a woman in midlife. For the "Come Together Experience," the two musicians Catarina Rüss (guitar, synths, vocals) and Sui Kemmer (bass, flute, vocals), accompanied live by two other musicians, cut and polish their way through the Beatles universe. Between "Helter Skelter" and "I Want to Tell You," "Dear Prudence" and "Tomorrow Never Knows," they weave their distinctive shoegaze style into a flowing trip. A journey through soundscapes between noise and gentle melancholy.

Mit Jamaican Jazz und handfesten Reggae-Grooves bringen  Wood In Di Fire bei ihren Live-Sessions die Dancehall zum Toben. Was  als Jam-Projekt von Musikern aus verschiedenen Berliner Bands begann, hat sich zur festen Formation entwickelt. Doch  der Session-Gedanke ist  immer noch lebendig: Die Bandmitglieder und Gäste bringen die verschiedensten Einflüsse aus Reggae, Jazz, Ska, Latin und Afro-Beat mit und sorgen damit immer wieder für überraschende Kicks. 
Auf zahlreichen Touren durch Deutschland, Österreich, Frankreich, Spanien, Ungarn und der Schweiz begeisterten Wood In Di Fire ihr Publikum mit ihrer außergewöhnlichen, interkontinentalen, musikalischen Fusion auf treibenden Reggae Beats und Jazzy Grooves.
Seit das Projekt im Jahre 2000 startete, spielt Wood In Di Fire traditionell im Berliner „Schokoladen“. Der bis heute monatlich stattfindende Reggae-Jam wurde schnell vom Geheimtipp zum etablierten Termin der Berliner Reggae-Szene.

Jejeje is a Spanish onomatopoeia which stands for a skeptical mocking laughing and/or for an apologetic laugh. Jejeje is also a Berlin-based trio that combines post pop, post punk and math max rhythms with a minimalist approach. Band members are Jordi (Parmesano, Nunofyrbeeswax, El Gos Binari), Itacate (Roto) and Zutoia (Muerte y Destrucción, Come 'n Wait). They got together thanks to the existence of Ojalá Esté Mi Bici, a DIY music collective from Barcelona, and to a house concert of Geoff Farina (Karate) and mOck in Berlin in 2018. Until now, they have self-released a split tape together with their friends Nunofyrbeeswax. Additionally, in December 2022 they appeared in a Xmas punk cover compilation released by Discos Pinya (Barcelona).
