Herbst in Peking, founded in 1987 as a wild mixture of sixties psychedelia and punk energy, became, with “Bakschisch-Republik”, the providers of a hymn for the collapse of the system. For many years now, they’ve been traveling with an electronic foundation and dub sounds, through which the dark voice of mastermind Rex Joswig—known from cult radio show “Grenzpunkt Null”—delivers poetic proclamations.

If underground is what bubbles beneath the surface, then Herbst in Peking is a true underground band. Their music springs from the depths of the subconscious. In their HIP sound, rock, electronic, doom, and shanty blend into a compelling melange.
