Herbst in Peking, founded in 1987 as a wild mixture of sixties psychedelia and punk energy, became, with “Bakschisch-Republik”, the providers of a hymn for the collapse of the system. For many years now, they’ve been traveling with an electronic foundation and dub sounds, through which the dark voice of mastermind Rex Joswig—known from cult radio show “Grenzpunkt Null”—delivers poetic proclamations.

If underground is what bubbles beneath the surface, then Herbst in Peking is a true underground band. Their music springs from the depths of the subconscious. In their HIP sound, rock, electronic, doom, and shanty blend into a compelling melange. Als Stefan Honig die schottische Band MEURSAULT 2012 für sich entdeckte, war da zunächst einfach nur die Begeisterung für ihre Musik, die ihn nicht mehr losließ. Jahre später wurde aus diesem Fan-Sein eine Freundschaft, aus der Freundschaft eine gemeinsame EP – und schließlich eine erste Deutschland-Tour. Jetzt kommen HONIG aus Köln und MEURSAULT aus Edinburgh zum zweiten Mal gemeinsam auf Tour. Und wer die beiden Bands schon einmal zusammen erlebt hat, weiß: Das hier ist kein Abend zum Nebenbei-Hören.

HONIG und MEURSAULT machen Musik, die sich Zeit nimmt, um einen dann mit voller Wucht zu erwischen. Songs können beginnen wie ein vorsichtiges Gespräch und wenige Minuten später in einem gewaltigen Klangbild explodieren. Warme Stimmen stehen neben schroffen Gitarren, filigrane Melodien neben donnernden Drums, Intimität neben Noise. Es gibt Momente, in denen man eine Stecknadel fallen hören könnte – und andere, in denen der Sound förmlich durch den Raum drückt.

Bei HONIG trifft Stefans ehrliches, direktes Songwriting auf eine Band, die ihre Stücke nicht einfach reproduziert, sondern ihnen auf der Bühne ein neues Leben gibt. Persönliche Songs verdichten sich zu großen Momenten, ohne dabei ihre Verletzlichkeit zu verlieren.

MEURSAULT um Neil Pennycook geht noch einen Schritt weiter: Zwischen Folk, Indie, elektronischen Texturen und Alternative Rock entstehen Songs, die gleichzeitig zerbrechlich und überwältigend sein können. Mal fast nackt und unmittelbar, mal wie ein Sturm, der sich langsam zusammenbraut und schließlich alles mitreißt. Die schottische Band hat ein Gespür für genau diesen Moment, in dem Melancholie plötzlich in Euphorie kippt.

Death By Horse ist eine  schwedische Punk-/Hardcore-Band, die dafür bekannt ist, rohe körperliche Intensität mit emotionaler Kraft und Präzision zu verbinden. Ihr Sound, der sich aus melodischem Hardcore und Punk speist, ist direkt, konfrontativ und eher auf Spannung als auf Übermaß ausgerichtet. Es ist Musik, die hart zuschlägt, ohne sich allein auf Chaos zu verlassen.

Mit ihrem neuesten Album „Liminal State“ machen Death By Horse einen entscheidenden Schritt nach vorne. Während frühere Veröffentlichungen eher impulsiv waren, ist das neue Material härter, fokussierter und emotional offener. Die Band setzt sich direkt mit Themen wie Verlust, Selbstzweifeln und inneren Konflikten auseinander und verwandelt persönlichen und gesellschaftlichen Druck in straff strukturierte, energiegeladene Songs.

Musikalisch überzeugt „Liminal State“ mit treibenden Rhythmen, knallharten Riffs und ausgefeiltem Songwriting. Die Aggression ist eher kontrolliert als hektisch, sodass Raum für Melodie, Dynamik und Kontraste bleibt. Das Ergebnis ist ein Sound, der sich dringlich und gelebt anfühlt, intensiv, ohne unkonzentriert zu sein.

London post-punkers DESPERATE JOURNALIST play songs from forthcoming album Gilding the Lily alongside old favourites from the past decade, Across five critically celebrated studio albums, Desperate Journalist have earned a devoted following through their distinctive blend of shimmering indie rock, post-punk intensity and soaring, emotionally resonant songwriting. Their previous releases have drawn comparisons with artists such as The Cure, The Smiths and The Chameleons while carving out a sound that remains unmistakably their own.

Post-punk, distorted guitars, pogo dancing and all the charm of football from days gone by: MATERAZI FUTURE CLUB was founded by three flatmates who decided to blend electro-punk music with samples from the most famous and iconic interviews in the world of football. In their lyrics and song titles, they celebrate the ‘naive poetry’ and romanticism of the sport through its leading figures.

“Formazione Titolare” is their debut album (2022 – Woodworm), which has intrigued and thrilled many sports and music media outlets and thanks to which Materazi Future Club have played more than 50 gigs over a two-year period, including major Italian festivals such as MiAmi and Goa Boa. The album is a spectacular overhead kick – a fact recognised even by La Gazzetta dello Sport and Amazon Prime, which asked the band to provide the music for the Champions League.

In 2024, they returned with new music and new stories to tell, releasing the single "Dio Perdona Riganò" featuring Federico Russo, which served as a preview of the EP "Punkinari", leading to the band performing live on "Radio Deejay".

In 2026, a new chapter and a new narrative unfold for the Milan-based band: the Club has decided to move to the land where modern football was invented – England. The Premier League is the finest league in the world, and Materazi Future Club wanted to pay tribute to it in their own style. The singles “Ranieri” and “Balotelli” herald "The Italian Job", the band’s second album, recorded in London and produced by Jake Long (producer of the post-punk band Snapped Ankles), whose collaboration infuses the record with the sound of the UK scene, defining an aesthetic and a sonic intensity with an international flavour. Furthermore, the journey and the production of the project in England become a genuine rediscovery of the origins of the sound that has always defined them, like a return to their musical homeland which, at the same time, feels like a renewal. "The Italian Job" celebrates seven Italian icons who took on British football, winning over English stands amidst glory, mud and redemption. No technicalities: just the soul of the game through original samples and cult phrases. A romantic tribute to the pioneering spirit of those who crossed borders in the name of football.

The post-punk DNA evolves into a striking electronic sound. The real revolution lies in the collective identity: the debut of three-part harmonies, which transform fragments of lyrics and stadium chants into visceral, collective anthems.
